The prime minister, David Cameron, has spent the weekend trending on Twitter, though not in a manner he would like.

More than 180,000 tweets were sent over the weekend using #CameronMustGo, with many venting their fury at the coalition government’s record.

Changes made to the NHS, the bedroom tax and the government’s economic record were among the policy areas over which he was taken to task by Twitter users. Prominent among those using the hashtag were the writer and columnist Owen Jones, the protest group UK Uncut and the thinktank Labour Left.
