Cameron McMillan – Appeal for information after man stabbed to death near Motherwell

Detectives are appealing for information following the fatal stabbing of Cameron McMillan near Motherwell.

Police were called to Quarry Street, Holytown around 5.05am on Sunday morning after the 23-year-old was knifed during an altercation at a house party.

Emergency services attended however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21 year-old man has been arrested on connection with the death and appeared before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

A 34-year-old man was also arrested in connection with an assault and appeared before the court on Tuesday.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Cammy Miller from Coatbridge CID said: "Extensive enquiries are being carried out to gather as much information about what happened, with detectives examining CCTV and speaking to local residents.

"Despite the early hour, it was daylight and from CCTV we can see that there were a number of members of the public in the area walking dogs and going about their daily business. It is vital that these people come forward and speak to the police, regardless of whether they think they have information or not.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Quarry Street from around 4.30am to 5.15am, and heard or saw any sort of disturbance, to get in touch.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Wishaw CID via 101, quoting incident number 0978 of Sunday 19 May 2019. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS anonymously on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
