Cameron Jordan rips ‘Foot Locker’ ref over the touchdown-negating missed call

The New Orleans Saints could have used Cameron Jordan’s 89-yard fumble return for a touchdown on Sunday … if only the touchdown was allowed to stand.

NFL officials are encouraged to let possible fumble-incompletion plays continue if there’s any question. That way the correct call could be made in review rather than having a whistle negate a possible scoring play.

Well, during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game rematch, the Saints were once again on the wrong side of a missed call. And Jordan wasn’t particularly pleased about it.

Officials ruled that Jared Goff threw an incompletion, blowing dead the would-be touchdown return. Replays showed that Goff clearly fumbled the ball, but because the play was blown dead on the field, the Saints gained possession at the spot of the clear recovery.

Speaking to reporters after the 27-9 loss, Jordan took a jab at the officials for not letting the play continue. He fit in a not-so-subtle “Foot Locker” reference.

Jordan wanted to make it clear, though, that he meant no disrespect to Foot Locker.
