Cameron Jordan hopes to hit Chase Daniel, not Mitchell Trubisky

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan is never one to shy away from giving his opinion, or at least sharing his perspective. That extends to which opponents he’d like to see most each week — specifically, Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky or backup passer Chase Daniel.

Jordan made an appearance on NFL Total Access on NFL Network to preview Sunday’s kickoff against the Bears, and if he had his way, Trubisky would continue to watch from the sidelines while Jordan tries to pressure his backup. Trubisky has missed time with a shoulder injury, and is officially listed as questionable to start against New Orleans. Daniel has replaced him in the lineup in recent weeks.

“I’ve been meaning to hit Chase ever since I got to the league, and I’ve already hit Mitch, so I’m okay with either one,” Jordan said when asked which quarterback he’d rather play against. Trubisky last played the Saints as a rookie in 2017, completing 14 of his 32 pass attempts (43.7%) to gain 164 yards with a pass intercepted by Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore. He was sacked twice, once by defensive end Trey Hendrickson and again by a team-up of Jordan and then-Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro. Jordan registered two other hits on the day.

However, Jordan clarified that, yes, he’d rather play against Daniel. It’s simply because they’re old friends given Daniels’ history as a backup quarterback with the Saints, having once held a clipboard on the sidelines and developed celebratory handshakes with Drew Brees. He’s someone on Jordan’s list that he’s never had the opportunity to play against.

“I love Chase,” Jordan continued. “He was a part of the Saints when I first got to the league. He brought so much juice to our locker room when he was here. I just did a USO Tour out in South Korea with my guy. I just can’t wait for a chance to hit him. That’s how I show love to my friends.”
