Cameron Jordan bemoans losing Tyeler Davison to “that red and black team”

Former New Orleans Saints nose tackle Tyeler Davison signed a free agent contract with the division-rival Atlanta Falcons, leading Saints defensive end and team captain Cameron Jordan to share his thoughts. Jordan wrote on his official Twitter account:

My guy (Davison) not returning hurts, he gave his all every time he hit the field. Free Agency sucks sometimes especially losing him to that red and black team. Salute to my guy the last (four years) putting in the work with us. Continue striving my guy.

Davison featured often in the starting lineup next to Jordan, with the two appearing in 47 games together from 2015 to 2018. The Saints upgraded Davison’s roster spot by signing two-time Super Bowl champion Malcom Brown from the New England Patriots, but changing faces along a defensive line that’s remained consistent for years still doesn’t sit well with Jordan.

It’s understandable. These guys are more than coworkers, they’re friends and sometimes nearly family. They celebrate holidays together. This is a strong reminder that NFL players are still human.

For his part, Davison shared a goodbye message through Herbie Teope of NFL.com: “I’ll always remember my great teammates, the amazing fans and atmosphere of New Orleans. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career in Atlanta. It’s a great opportunity (with) a very good team and I’m very excited about it.”

Jordan and the Saints will see Davison again, twice in 2019. Here’s hoping he finds success down the road, but not too much for “that red and black team” as Jordan puts it.
