Cameron House set to reopen after being destroyed by fatal fire in 2017

Cameron House will reopen for the first time since it was destroyed by a fire that killed two people in 2017.

The five-star Loch Lomond hotel is set to open again on August 1 and promises to offer guests "unrivalled experiences".

The resort’s website is live and taking bookings for their luxury bedrooms and suites after a £17.5million overhaul and extension.

We previously reported how the main building, its Leisure Club and the food and beverage areas all remained closed while the "sensitive" restoration was carried out.

The hotel will now include 68 new bedrooms on the upper three floors (bringing the total number of bedrooms to 208), the majority featuring large balconies with loch-facing views.

There will also be a large outdoor terrace on the lower ground floor which will create a separate, external space for smaller events.

Guests Simon Midgley and Richard Dyson lost their lives in the tragic fire caused by a night porter putting fireplace ash in a plastic bag inside a cupboard.

Earlier this year, Cameron House was fined £500,000 at Dumbarton Sheriff Court after admitting a string of safety failures, including failing to action repeated warnings over the storing of combustibles a cupboard – the latest by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) came just one month before the blaze.

The blaze took hold in the reception area of the hotel in the early hours of the morning, sending 214 guests fleeing the smoke and flames.

Travel journalist Simon and Richard, a TV producer, were unable to escape the hotel. They were tragically found in fire escape areas of the building after being discovered missing around 80 minutes after the 999 call was made.
