Cameron House evacuated after "threatening message" received

A luxury hotel which hosted former US President Barack Obama recently had to be evacuated due to a “threatening message” being received.

Guests and staff at Cameron House were removed from the buildings yesterday (Monday) as searches of the premises were carried out.

Police are continuing to probe the incident this morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Lennox Herald: “Officers are carrying out an investigation following a threatening message received by a premises near Loch Lomond on Monday, November 15.

“The premises were evacuated and specialist officers attended while extensive searches were carried out. These proved negative for anything of concern and members of the public were permitted access back into the premises. Enquiries remain ongoing.”

Former President Barack Obama visited the five-star resort while in Scotland for COP26.

Video footage he shared on his Twitter page yesterday (Monday) showed him at the venue with the loch as a backdrop while welcoming filmmaker and environmentalist Jackson Harries.

Obama is seen walking down the drive with the iconic Cameron House building in the background to meet Jack while speaking of how he had jetlag.

Jackson says to Obama: “I’m proud to say welcome to sunny Scotland.”

The pair then sit on a bench overlooking the loch while discussing where we are now with climate change and how young people can engage.

Obama made a keynote speech at the climate change summit a week earlier.
