Cameron Dicker the kicker’s game-winning FG saves Texas against Kansas

Kansas was in position to knock off No. 15 Texas in Austin on Saturday night after scoring a touchdown with a little more than a minute left in the fourth quarter.

When kicking the extra point would have tied the game at 47, Les Miles and the Jayhawks went for two and got it. And with 1:11 left in the fourth quarter, they had a one-point lead and just had to hang on.

But thanks to a 60-yard scoring drive led by Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger, Texas was in field goal position with just five seconds left. Enter Cameron Dicker the kicker, who drilled a 33-yard game-winning field goal as the clock counted down to zero.

Dicker was 2-for-2 on field goals and made all six extra kicks for the Longhorns, but, once again, he was clutch when the game was on the line. Ehlinger was 31-for-44 for 399 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. It’s the fourth time this season he’s thrown for four touchdowns, and he only threw for more yards this season against LSU (401).

Texas is now 5-2 with losses to LSU and Oklahoma and still in position to possibly return to the Big 12 championship game.

The Jayhawks dropped to 2-5 and have yet to win a conference game, but credit to them for going for the two-point conversion and what could have been a win with barely a minute left in the game.
