Cameron Diaz has revealed she used to buy her red carpet looks from the high street

Cameron Diaz has revealed that she used to buy her red carpet outfits from the high street in a new interview.

The Charlie's Angels actress, who retired from acting in 2014, relayed the news during an appearance on Gucci Westman's YouTube series, where she explained how different the red carpet is now compared to what it used to be.

“For my premieres, I would just go to Barney’s and buy clothes and go to my premiere,” she said.

47-year-old Diaz went on to explain how, nowadays, celebrities are judged far more harshly for their outfits than they once were.

She explained, “It wasn’t like a whole production where you got judged or, what’s the word, rated or scored for how you look.”

Diaz additionally noted how today, stars are “objectified” on the red carpet.

Diaz retired from acting in order to spend more time with her husband, Good Charlotte star Benji Madden. The couple - who married in 2015 - welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Raddix, in January.

The former actress, who made her film debut in 1994's The Mask, discussed a potential return to the silver screen, saying, “I’m never gonna say never because I’m not a person who says never about anything.”
