Cameron Devlin ‘set to sign’ for Hearts as Robbie Neilson looks to seal deal for Australian midfielder

Hearts are closing in on the sign of Australian midfielder Cameron Devlin, according to a report.

Devlin was with the Australia U23 squad at the Olympics and is yet to play for current club Newcastle Jets having only joined them in June.

But it's now suggested that a deal has been agreed with Hearts who will pay a fee for the midfielder, although it's unclear how much he will cost just yet.

Reports from Australian journalist Joey Lynch suggest everything has already been agreed and Newcastle Jets, and former club Wellington Phoenix will receive money for him.

Devlin has two caps for the Australian U23 side and is highly-rated in the A-League after coming through the ranks of Sydney FC before joining Phoenix.

He spent two years in Wellington before joining Newcastle Jets this summer and now could join up with Robbie Neilson’s side at Tynecastle.

Hearts have signed just four players this summer and one of them was a central midfielder in the shape of Beni Baningime, who signed last week.

He joined from Everton and impressed on his debut for the club against Celtic, while Brighton youngster Alex Cochrane also signed on loan.

Goalkeeper Ross Stewart and winger Josh Ginnelly also turned their loan moves permanent.
