Cameron Carter Vickers names Celtic best pal as he takes fans inside 'Never Stop' training camp graft

Celtic standout Cameron Carter-Vickers admits he knew Parkhead was the place he viewed his long-term future after only six months on loan in Glasgow.

And the £6m permanent signing from Tottenham admits he was yearning to reunite with defensive partner Carl Starfelt ahead of his return to first team training. The pair forged a strong bond last season and are aiming to pick up where they left off last time around. Speaking on Celtic 's official Twitter, as part a question and answer session, he said: "Training has been good, we’re working hard! I missed a lot of the boys, but if I had to pick one I’d say Carl Starfelt.

He also had kind words for another of his fellow defenders who he reckons is the most amusing member of the Premiership champions' squad. He added: “Probably Greg Taylor – he talks a lot and comes out with some funny things!"

Carter Vickers is the son of a basketball star and while he concedes he doesn't get much time to watch the NBA, he does believe the beautiful game can learn He said: “I don’t follow it too much because the time they’re usually on – but if I’m up I’ll watch if it’s on! I think maybe some of the defensive footwork in basketball could be applied in football when you’re defending one-on-one.”

And the USA international is in no doubt who the finest attacker he has ever tried to stop - and could be on his radar again next season in the Champions League. He said: “Mbappé probably – I played against France for USA so I’d say him.”
