The death of Disney actor Cameron Boyce was caused by epilepsy, a coroner has found.

An autopsy report from Los Angeles County coroner's office said the 20-year-old actor was found unresponsive at his North Hollywood home on July 6 and later pronounced dead at the scene.

His manner of death was "natural", the coroner added.

Boyce's family said previously that he had died due to an ongoing medical condition, but did not state what the condition was.

In a statement after his death, they said: "The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.

"We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother."

Co-stars including Adam Sandler, Salma Hayek and Debby Ryan were also among those to pay tribute.

Boyce, known for his roles in the Disney Channel franchise Descendants and TV show Jessie, was born in California and was also known for his humanitarian work.

He played Luke Ross in Jessie and Carlos in Descendants, the TV movie series.

Appearing on screen from a young age, his other credits included Mirrors, Eagle Eye, and Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2.

Disney Channel cancelled the red-carpet premiere of Descendants 3 after Boyce's death.

It said Friday's broadcast will be dedicated to Boyce's memory.
