Camera captures man circling woman on Sydney street moments before indecent assault

Police are trying to track down a woman shown on CCTV walking down a Redfern street before she was indecently assaulted, as they arrest a man for similar incidents in the same area.

A Waterloo man has been arrested for the alleged indecent assault of a number of women in the Redfern area of Sydney in the past month.

CCTV footage released by NSW Police shows a man circling a woman walking on Boronia Street in Redfern.

Police have spoken to witnesses who said the woman was indecently assaulted in this incident — although this is not shown in the CCTV vision — at about 10:20pm on Saturday night.

They are asking the woman or any other witnesses to similar incidents to come forward.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at a unit in Waterloo yesterday evening and charged with seven counts of assault with an act of indecency.

After the arrest, police were issued a warrant to search the unit and investigators seized items for the investigation, known as Strikeforce Raht.

The man was refused bail and is expected to appear in Central Local Court today.

Police will allege that the man assaulted several women between Saturday January 6 and Thursday February 1.
