Camera Angle Perfectly Captured Xavier Worthy Celebrating Record-Breaking 40-Yard Dash

The final day of the 2024 NFL draft scouting combine in Indianapolis belonged to Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

In the 40-yard dash, Worthy posted a jaw-dropping time of 4.21 seconds—an NFL combine record, a hundredth of a second faster than Washington wide receiver John Ross III in 2017.

Worthy had a rock-solid college career. He caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards in 2023, helping the Longhorns reach the College Football Playoff—but his otherworldly time suggested an entirely new level of ability.

After the drill, the NFL posted a head-on angle of Worthy’s run—with Lucas Oil Stadium erupting as his record-tying unofficial time (4.22 seconds) appeared on the scoreboard. Minutes later, his official time stood alone in NFL history.

“It’s crazy,” a winded Worthy told NFL Network’s Stacy Dales. “I’ve been watching the combine my whole life. As a kid, seeing John Ross do that, I never thought I’d be able to be on this stage and do that.”

Rarely do NFL combine events rise to the level of “iconic,” but if Worthy can find Sunday success, his big run may be well on its way.
