Camelot awards Britain's biggest ever lottery win of £35.1m

National Lottery organisers, Camelot, have validated and paid out the biggest Lotto prize ever won by a single winner.

At £35.1 million, this win beats the record-breaking January jackpot of £66 million which was split between two ticket holders.

The sole winner of the 4 April jackpot who guessed all six numbers correctly has chosen to stay anonymous.

A National Lottery spokesman said: "This lucky ticket-holder can now start to enjoy their life-changing Lotto jackpot win."

Unlike winners in the United States who can be taxed up to 40% - all lottery prizes goes to the lucky ticket holder are tax-free.

In the same Lotto draw, nobody matched five numbers plus the bonus ball, but 35 people matching five numbers won £1,914 each.

There were 2,769 winners who matched four balls and they will take home £156 each.

Matching three numbers each, 70,801 tickets scooped £25.
