Camel milk now on sale in Glasgow - but are you brave enough to try it?

You’re an adventurous lot, Glasgow - and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

We know you love to try knew things, but have you heard of a Camel Milk Cappuccino?

We certainly hadn't. Until now, that is, thanks to a cafe in Glasgow, who are now serving up camel milk as a new milk alternative.

The Willow Tea Rooms, in the city centre, will be the first in Scotland to serve camel milk come hump day.

From Wednesday 29, you'll be able to pick up a camelccinno for £2.40 - and it's all for a good cause.

Rather than milking the profits, Willow Tea Rooms be sharing 10 per cent of the proceeds to Mercy Corps, who run a UK aid funded project in Kenya that supports camel milk farmers.

The Edinburgh based charity launched to help 141 women camel milk traders boost the shelf life of their product.

Camel milk is already popular across Africa and the Middle East as scientists reckon it's the closest alternative to human breast milk - containing 10 times more iron and three times more vitamin C than cow's milk. Who knew?

Willow Tea Rooms owner Anne Mulhern said: "We are delighted to be offering our customers camel milk cappuccinos throughout the month of June.

“When we were approached about camel milk, we looked into its properties and found out that it's healthier and higher in Vitamin C and iron than cow's milk. It's also lower in lactose, so it's great for our lactose-intolerant customers.

“We’ve road-tested it and our customers loved it. Camel milk cappuccinos could become a permanent feature on our menus.”

Would you brave it? And will you take one hump or two?
