Cambuslang Rangers youngsters hope to finish cup and title bids despite shut down

Manager William McElholm hopes his Cambuslang Rangers under-21 side will be allowed to finish their season.

With Scottish football shut down, The Lang youngsters are still to complete their West of Scotland Cup, League Cup, Scottish Cup still and league campaigns.

McElholm hopes the governing bodies focus on completing this season rather than looking ahead to next term.

“The boys are obviously a bit gutted not to get the chance to play the rest of their season right now,” said the gaffer.

“They just want the opportunity to finish their season if they can.

A youth pathway is now in place for kids to make the grade at Somervell Park (Rutherglen Reformer)

“They have come so far and I don’t want the players left feeling like they have wasted their time.

“People are talking about next season, but next season doesn’t exist yet. We have a few players who will be out of our age group after the summer and we would like them to be able to play in the cup and league games as they have been a big part of it.

“I’m hopeful that we will get a decision that will let us play the games.”
