Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Paul McColl says his fringe players have given him a selection headache after he mixed up his side and they still beat Carluke Rovers 6-1.
Rangers cruised through in the South Challenge Cup courtesy of a Scott Williamson hat-trick, Gordon Dick double and a strike from Kiegan Parker, and McColl says any players he puts into the side just fit in.
That can only be bad news for their opponents, with Cambuslang scoring goals for fun at the moment.
McColl said: “It was a good result and we gave some boys a game that hadn’t played.
“No disrespect to Carluke Rovers, but the boys had to get a game and they all did well – 6-1, and it could have been a wee bit more.
“Team selection will be a headache now, because a lot of the boys did well on Saturday, but it’s a good ‘problem’.
“You’re going to get holidays and weddings, injuries and suspensions, but we’ve managed to cope with that, and we got big Ryan Francis back, so it’s good to add him again.
“It’s good to be able to mix the team up and still win convincingly.
“There were some good performances and we’re just happy to get through to the next round.
“We put a few boys in, but there isn’t a problem with anybody in the squad, they’re all good players, so it’s not a worry.
“I’m happy enough; we have a team in mind for most games, but any boys that come in, we’re happy to have them in the squad and they’re all good players.”
Rangers host 11th-placed Kello Rovers in the West of Scotland League Premier Division on Saturday and McColl is determined to keep the run going after an impressive 11 straight wins.
He said: “We’re happy with the result on Saturday – as long as we win we’re not that bothered about the result, 2-1, 1-0, 3-2, whatever – but we are scoring a lot of goals.
“On Saturday we’ve got Kello Rovers, don’t really know much about them, but we’ll treat them with respect.
“We’ll take it a game at a time, it’s another one at home, hopefully we get a win, but if we do, we’ve got ourselves a decent start.
“We’ve now won 11 on the bounce and I genuinely don’t know the last time we did that, but we haven’t won anything, it’s a quarter of the way through the season.
“There will be a couple of hard games coming up, but we’ll see how it goes.”
