Cambuslang Rangers can't wait to make West of Scotland League debut

Billy Campbell can’t wait to face St Cadoc’s in Cambuslang Rangers’ first ever game in the West of Scotland League.

It’s set to be a mouthwatering clash in front of 250 fans at Somervell Park for the Wee Gers’ first competitive game of the season.

St Cadoc’s have a strong squad and their brilliant pre-season form has led to them tipped to win Conference B and Camby boss Campbell isn’t downplaying the importance of their debut clash in the WOSFL.

“It’s an absolutely massive game to start with,” said Campbell. “We will have a couple more sessions before Saturday but we know how big a game this will be.

“It’s a big, big game for us. You try and set yourself up so you’re able to compete but there is still a long way to go before we can talk about ourselves as one of the favourites - I’m really reluctant to do that.

“It’s a really tough game to start with the structure that St Cadoc’s have got around the club.

“They’ve been doing really well during pre-season so we know how tough it will be.

“Our squad is looking okay but we’ve picked up a couple of slight injuries because players have returned in different conditions after such a long break.

“We’ve got a big enough squad to get started but we are constantly looking at the transfer market to try and improve.

“We played well against Thorniewood on Friday night and it was important to bounce back from that Shotts defeat.

“It’s all change for us [in the WOSFL] and we had a call with the SFA last week about how everything is structured.

“It’s an interesting time for everybody and we can’t wait to get back despite some inconveniences - like not being able to use changing facilities.”

“We want to make sure there is a good product for customers to come and watch Camby.

“We are working on the changing rooms but we won’t be able to use them yet.

“The plan is to create a comfortable environment which will set us up for success and we want to make it attractive for fans.”

Saturday’s clash is a 2pm kick with attendance restricted to 250 fans.
