Cambuslang Harriers took two team bronze medals from the Scottish Cross Country Championships at Falkirk.
The under-17 men and senior men won medals, while the women’s team achieved their best finishing position of sixth place.
Harriers’ under-17 quartet of Sam McCarthy, Finlay Robb, Chris Black and Zach Seenan packed tightly as a group, with only 19 seconds between them, which saw them repeat their team bronze performance of 2019.
Jonathan Dow, Zack Haggerty and Gabriel Murphy offered the important back-up.
Thirty runners recorded times in the senior race.
Gavin Smith in 11th place was closely followed by international triathlete Grant Sheldon and elite marathon runner Fraser Stewart in 14th and 17th, respectively.
Callum Tharme was 24th, Mike Christoforou 33rd and Kevan Harvey 34th to earn the medals.
Cambuslang also had a good turnout for the senior women’s race, with Eve MacKinnon finishing 12th.
Lesley Blackwood confirmed her recent good form in 30th, and with back-up from W40 Kirsty O’Brien, Georgia Freeman-Mills and W50 Jennifer Reid, they took a top-six team finish.
Next home were W40 Kathleen McLachlan, Rachel Wardrope and W65 Erica Christie.
There were encouraging Scottish Cross Country debuts for under-13 athletes Rory Barclay and Jack Gillon, and under-15 Daibhidh Kinnard has been selected to represent Scotland at school level.
In the same age group, Euan Reid and Alistair McLachlan did well, as did under-15 Olivia McNicol, while Mollie Mae Scott did well in the under-17 event.
Cambuslang Harriers invite anyone who wants to give running a try, with a team of qualified coaches only too happy to help them.
