Cambuslang football team back in action after council chiefs reverse pitch pee ban

Killjoy council bosses have done a loo-turn after banning a kids’ football team from their training ground for peeing at the side of the pitch.

South Lanarkshire Council confirmed it had reversed the decision to ban Drumsagard 2013s from their Cambuslang pitches for six months, after youngsters who couldn’t gain access to a toilet block were caught short.

The move came after Old Firm legends Barry Ferguson and  Chris Sutton joined families in slamming the move.

Our sister paper, the Daily Record, also highlighted how six and seven-year-olds had been devastated at the ban weeks after returning to football at the Newton Farm pitch following lockdown.

The punishment came after complaints from two onlookers earlier this month.

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture said the club had been reinstated after they apologised. SLLC general manager David Booth said “We encouraged the club to appeal.

“When they did so, and took action to avoid any repeat, they were very quickly reinstated.

“We have a good relationship with the club and its coaches so we are glad this has now been resolved.”
