The Cambuslang and Rutherglen Sports Awards have been cancelled amid the coronavirus lockdown.
The annual celebration of top performers across the area had been scheduled to take place this Friday (March 27).
Sports Council chairman and Rutherglen South councillor Robert Brown admitted there was no date currently to reschedule the event.
He said: “The council really have two options.
“We can try and wait until September time, when hopefully most of this has passed, and properly present the awards.
“Or we can try to handout the awards, which presents it’s own challenges in the current climate.”
He added: “It’s hugely disappointing for everyone involved.
“For the young athletes I would like to think it’s a significant event for them, with a purpose on recognising their great achievements.
“We understand why this has all happened though and safety comes first during these times.”
