Multiple people have been seriously injured in a horror minibus crash tonight.
Paramedics are treating around 20 patients for serious injuries and casualties have been rushed to two hospitals after the two-vehicle smash in Cambridgeshire.
A large emergency services presence swarmed the area as the East of England Ambulance Service confirms it had a number of ambulance crews at the scene and had deployed the Hazardous Area Response Team.
Cambridgeshire Police rushed to the scene and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they sent more than 20 firefighters.
The crash took place on a busy country road near a crossroads in St Ives.
The B1040 has been completely shut at the crossroads with Somersham Road and Bluntisham Heath Road, St Ives, near the villages of Woodhurst and Bluntisham.
The road has been closed in all directions.
A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Police said: "Police and other emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious two vehicle collision near Bluntisham.
"The crash happened on the B1040 Somersham Road, at its junction with Bluntisham Heath Road, and was reported at 4.51pm today.
"Multiple people are involved and some are seriously injured.
"The roads going in either direction at the junction have been closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
"Further information regarding the collision will be released when it becomes available."
Local residents took to social media to warn others about the delays and emergency services presence, reports Cambridgeshire Live .
One woman wrote: "Bad accident at crossroads. Lots of emergency services. Road being closed every direction."
Another added: "I can see the lights from my house and ambulances. I hope everyone is ok."
Casualties are being taken to Addenbrooke's and Hinchingbrooke hospitals.
