- The University of Cambridge has launched an investigation into the appointment and tenure of former sociology professor Jason Arday following plagiarism allegations.
- Mr Arday, who became the university's youngest Black professor in 2023, resigned last week after allegations emerged regarding his PhD thesis and additional research.
- Vice-chancellor Professor Deborah Prentice described the case as an “aberration” and confirmed that a separate inquiry into Arday's academic qualifications will continue.
- Mr Arday has cancelled upcoming events promoting his memoir, Great And Unfortunate Things , which is scheduled for publication in August.
- The investigation comes amid scrutiny over additional claims made by Mr Arday, including that he ran 600 miles in six days and raising £5.5 million for charity.
