Cambridge paper claims rock star death scoop

The Cambridge Evening News is claiming that it landed a world exclusive by breaking the news of the death of Syd Barrett, the former Pink Floyd guitarist, on its website. The paper says it was tipped off about the death of the rocker nicknamed Crazy Diamond after its final edition had been printed. But it managed to upload the story and, according to assistant news editor Jon Ball, therefore manged to beat BBC's website by "at least half an hour." And that's a scoop, folks!
