A teenager has been stabbed in the chest at a bank holiday market in Cambridgeshire

Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance and police cars at the Bourn Airfield Market, near Cambourne, on Monday, Cambridgeshire Live reported.

One market goer told the local outlet the boy, thought to be around 17, was attacked following a disagreement between two families.

"They were exiting the market when it happened," she said.

“There was a local family and a Traveller family. They had a disagreement yesterday that carried over into today. It’s not very nice.”

She added: “It’s a combination of boys with lots of testosterone running through their veins and the hot weather. They all feel they’re more important than the other.”

The market, which routinely attracts thousands of customers, is held at an historic Second World War airfield.

Cambridge Police could not immediately be reached for comment.
