Cambodian authorities have seized more than 2,400 smartphones smuggled into the country by boat from Thailand.
The seizure took place on Thursday in the waters near Dek Koul island, not far from the port city of Sihanoukville, the Khmer Times repoprted.
The raid was conducted by officers of the National Military Police and the General Department of Customs and Excise, said Sun Sophat, chief of the anti-economic crime bureau with the Preah Sihanouk provincial police.
The military police said the boat from Thailand that was stopped near Dek Koul island was carrying 14 cases of phones including Samsung and LG brands.
Eng Hy, spokesman for the National Military Police, said the phones were handed over to customs officials to take action against the owners.
