FIFA World Cup champion Megan Rapinoe has certainly had her fair share of headlines over the past few weeks, both on and off the pitch.
But that didn’t stop Panthers quarterback Cam Newton from welcoming her to Charlotte as she takes in the International Champions Cup match in Charlotte between Arsenal and Fiorentina at Bank of America Stadium.
The International Champions Cup is a series of friendly matches where 12 soccer clubs from six countries compete in three matches each and the top team claims the championship.
The matches will take place across 16 venues across the United States, Europe and Asia. The match between Arsenal and Fiorentina will be the only match in the ICC played at Bank of America Stadium.
Both clubs won their opening matches, as Arsenal defeated Bayern Munich, 2-1, and Fiorentina took care of Guadalajara by the same score.
