Cam Newton shuts down trash-talking kid by repeating ‘I’m rich’ over and over

This is one of these vague things that pops up on the internet now. A snippet of interaction between two people, upon which we can cast all sorts of meaning if we want to.

Or maybe we can just laugh at it for what it is: A young man challenging an older one, and the ensuing banter. It just so happens the older one here is Cam Newton, a soon-to-be free agent QB who also happens to have led a team to the Super Bowl and won an NFL MVP award.

Newton appears to be at some sort of camp or event here. Why is this kid going at him? Who knows!

As if to prove he is rich, Cam Newton is wearing a Peloton jacket. Those bikes are so expensive! (Also that watch probably costs more than my house.)

It’s entirely unclear why this young gentleman believes Cam Newton is about to be poor because he’s a free agent after one season with the New England Patriots. Cam Newton has earned $122 million from his NFL contracts alone. He’s also had endorsement deals with the likes of Under Armour and Gatorade.

If Newton has invested his fortune correctly, he probably earned more during this little back-and-forth than the average American will this week. He’s probably doing OK.

Although he has spent a whole lot of money on clothing he only wore once so ….
