Cam Newton shouted ‘I’m back’ after scoring a touchdown in his Panthers return

The Carolina Panthers didn’t wait long at all to get former MVP and No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton involved with the offense against the Arizona Cardinals. All he needed was one play.

The Panthers picked up Newton this week after Sam Darnold’s injury put them in a desperate situation at quarterback. Newton, who was released by New England ahead of Week 1, spent half the season without a team before finally getting that call from his former club.

Well, Newton announced his official return to Carolina on his first snap in the red zone. On second and goal from the 2-yard line, Newton scrambled for an easy touchdown. And as he celebrated the score, he removed his helmet to shout, “I’m back!”

You could even hear Newton’s voice through the broadcast. He was pumped.

Newton wasn’t done either in the first quarter. He followed up that rushing touchdown with a passing touchdown to Robby Anderson.

He really is back.
