New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton re-signed with his team just before free agency began, and he seems to be pleased with his decision.
Over the course of the first day of the free agency tampering window, New England agreed to terms with seven new players, including star tight end Jonnu Smith and edge rusher Matthew Judon. The Patriots also added a pair of receivers in Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne.
New England is building a roster to support their starting quarterback, whether it’s Newton or another player. It’s a stark contrast from 2020 when the Patriots had little cap space to build their team. That seems to be why Newton wrote: “When you realize things are already different …. the second go around!!”
It’s a good morning for Newton.
