Cam Newton says he’s vaccinated, weighing his offers in free agency

Cam Newton said he is vaccinated for COVID-19 during a new edition of his YouTube series, “Funky Friday,” this week. It sounds like Newton weighed the decision for quite some time, but elected to get it after initially refusing the vaccine with the New England Patriots, who released him this offseason.

Newton explained he is weighing his offers and hopes to return to the NFL.

“Cam, do you still want to play football? Is it still there? There’s two things with that. Number one, hell yeah I wanna still play football. I still get that urge to go out and perform and do something that I’ve been doing since I was seven years old,” Newton said. “But also, it’s like, bro I’m so much more than a football player. Like, respect me as such. …

“I’m just waiting on the right opportunity. And you’re probably asking yourself, ‘Don’t nobody want Cam.’ That’s a lie, I’ve been getting offers. But the realization of it is, it has to be right.”

It certainly will help Newton’s chances of getting job offers if he’s vaccinated. Players who are vaccinated are subject to less strict protocol, which makes them less likely to miss time.
