It’s getting to be late May, and quarterback Cam Newton is still a free agent. Somehow, he’s awaiting the right deal from an NFL team.
Though he may be unemployed, he seems to be hard at work. Newton posted an Instagram update on Wednesday with photos and video from a workout. And goodness, he can still sling it.
But of course, that’s not really the question. Everyone knows Newton will look good on a practice field in sweatpants when throwing to a wide open receiver. Newton’s pending free agency is largely predicated upon whether he can stay healthy under more adverse circumstances. It’s easy to imagine that, with Newton’s injury history, NFL teams are awaiting the opportunity to give the quarterback a physical when the coronavirus pandemic allows them to do so.
That said, here’s a look at Newton at work.
Certainly, he’s one of the best free agents available after the Carolina Panthers cut him earlier this offseason. Perhaps as NFL facilities begin to reopen around the country, Newton will get closer to signing with his next team.
