Cam Newton’s cleats serve as a tribute to Chadwick Boseman

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton made a big statement with teal cleats on Sunday for Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Newton’s cleats served as a collision between the comic book universes as he celebrated the late Chadwick Boseman’s role as Black Panther.

On one foot, Newton had the phrase, “Wakanda Forever.” On the other foot, he had an image of Super Man (Newton’s nickname) holding the helmet for the Black Panther. Boseman died of colon cancer this month, and Newton did another tribute to the actor during Week 2 when he flashed the salute for “Wakanda Forever.”

Here’s a look at Newton’s cleats.

It’s a very cool tribute to Boseman.
