Cam Newton left off list of NFL’s top 11 quarterbacks for 2019

Cam Newton is indisputably the best rushing QB of all time, but he’s still not a top-10 player at his position according to some analysts. Doug Farrar at Touchdown Wire just released his list of the top 11 quarterbacks in the league this year. Newton did not make the cut.

While it’s natural and understandable for Panthers fans to feel irked by Newton getting snubbed here, it’s not worth getting terribly upset over. In our own 2019 QB rankings, Newton just barely made the cut at No. 10 overall. By comparison, Farrar has Baker Mayfield at the No. 10 spot, followed by Carson Wentz at No. 11.

The other names on his list are all the same as ours and we agreed that Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees are first and second heading into this coming season.

On Twitter, Farrar said he had Newton at No. 11 at one point but changed his mind.

We also like both Mayfield and Wentz and believe they have legitimate league MVP kind of potential, but we’d still put Cam ahead of them for now.
