Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones made the play of the game in Sunday night’s win over the Eagles, but fellow wideout Calvin Ridley had one of the best games of his career. The second-year receiver caught eight of 10 targets from Matt Ryan, totaling 105 yards and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus gave Ridley’s Week 2 performance a grade of 84.4, the highest of any Atlanta offensive player.
Ridley is the team’s leading receiver through two weeks and he’s been the perfect complement to Jones thus far. His top-end speed and sharp route running have made him an effective and consistent deep pass threat.
Jim Schwartz called a typically aggressive game-plan for Philadelphia’s defense, often giving the Falcons offense cover-zero looks and a lot of blitzes. However, the Eagles defensive backs inexplicably gave both Jones and Ridley a lot of cushion. They made them pay – especially in crunch time.
