Calvin Ramsay watched first Aberdeen goal on repeat as buzzing star reflects on year long journey

Buzzing Calvin Ramsay can't believe it's been a year since his first start for Aberdeen.

And after he marked the occasion in style by firing in a stunning opening goal against Dundee, the teenager says he can't stop watching his moment of magic back.

The 18-year-old came in from the right and thumped in a fantastic strike to put the Dons in front at Pittodrie.

It was a proud moment in front of his family as the whole clan came out to watch him in action.

The result wasn't what Jim Goodwin 's team wanted as they were twice pegged back to draw 2-2 and their top six hopes are now out of their hands.

But it was a special day for Ramsay as he said in an interview with Red TV that he has watched his goal back more than once.

He said: "It was a special moment for me. All my family were at the game, I had six family members there, so it was special to score that and have them all there to see it.

"I've had quite a few shots cutting in on my left this season but to get that goal was special.

"I've watched it back a few times. It was good play from Ross to find me and then Vinny (Vicente Besuijen) has made a great run that created it all.

"I hit it and it went in, thankfully! I was buzzing."

April 4th 2022 was the date of his first goal for the club. April 3rd 2021, almost exactly a year earlier, he was named in the starting lineup for the first time against Dumbarton.

And while he admits it doesn't feel like a year has passed, he's hoping to make the most of it and keep the appearance numbers racking up.

"It's crazy," Ramsay went on. "My mum told me the other day it's been a year since that game, time's flew by to be honest. It doesn't feel like I've played for Aberdeen professionally for a year.

"It's been great, I've enjoyed it. I made my debut against Dundee United, coming on for just two minutes.

"All I wanted to do growing up was just get on the pitch and once I got that taste of it I just wanted to keep going and get more and more.

"I made my first start against Dumbarton - I came off just after half-time with cramp - but it was great for me and my family to see me doing that."
