Calvin Harris reunites with Ellie Goulding in the studio as pair tease new music

Calvin Harris has shared a snap alongside Ellie Goulding and teased the pair are working on new music.

Sharing a photo of the pair beaming on social media, the Scots producer wrote: "Back in studio!! It’s time for the third instalment of our banging song trilogy." The Dumfries-born DJ has collaborated with the popstar on various hits like 'I Need Your Love' and 'Outside'.

The former featured on Harris’ third album in 2012, titled ’18 Months’ while the latter appeared on his fourth album in 2014 titled ‘Motion’.

This comes after the Love Me Like You Do singer delayed the release of her upcoming album, ‘Higher Than Heaven’ due to some “exciting” new developments, hinting her third collaboration with Harris could be the reason.

Earlier this week, the musician announced on Twitter that her album would be delayed. Goulding wrote: “To my incredible fans – I’m sorry to announce that we’re delaying the release of Higher Than Heaven to March 24.”

Harris, 38, and Goulding previously sparked dating rumours back in 2012 after they released the music video for their track 'I Need Your Love' but swiftly denied the speculation. The pair kiss in the music video which prompted reports of romance between the two, but Goulding, 36, has maintained they were always just friends.

"We knew in that video we would just giggle and laugh the whole way through. Me and Calvin are really good friends," Ellie told Metro. "We make each other laugh. We text each other stupid stuff and we really get on and are similar."

Shortly after, the Scots producer began dating fellow chart-topper Rita Ora before they split one year later.

Harris was recently announced as a performer at this year’s Coachella festival alongside Frank Ocean, Phoebe Bridger's, The Chemical Brothers, Charli XCX, and many more acts.

The Bounce hitmaker will be performing his first-ever virtual concert, which will be streamed on TikTok LIVE tonight (January 13).
