Calum Chambers third Arsenal player out with Covid-19 after positive test ahead of Carabao Cup quarter-final

Calum Chambers is the latest Arsenal player to test positive for Covid-19.

Arsenal confirmed the news ahead of their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Sunderland on Tuesday, with Chambers forced to miss the match as a result.

Fellow Gunners players Albert Sambi Lokonga and Pablo Mari have already tested positive for Covid-19, which is why they missed Saturday’s win at Leeds.

Arsenal have also had to deal with members of their backroom team testing positive for coronavirus and their London Colney training base was shut last Thursday to undergo a precautionary deep clean.

The Gunners had Covid-19 issues at the start of the season, with four players testing positive on the eve of their opening match against Brentford.

Premier League clubs are now operating under strict protocols as they bid to keep games on over the festive period.

Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles was also absent from the match with Sunderland on Tuesday, but the club have specified he does not have Covid-19.
