CalMac is owned by the Scottish Government.


CalMac tickets for young people

There is currently a scheme for young islanders to travel on ferries for free.

For residents in OrkneyShetland, the Outer Hebrides, islands in North Ayrshire, Argyll and Bute and Highland Council areas, those aged 16-18, or those aged 19-21 from June, can make four single or two return trips to the mainland for free.

Cancelling CalMac ferry bookings

People can cancel their CalMac ferry bookings more than 24 hours before sailing.

However, this will incur a £10 administration fee.

Cancellations must be done by contacting the company's Customer Engagement Centre.

According to CalMac's website, customers can change their bookings online through their account.


CalMac tickets and food menu

The ferry operator has a wide range of tickets and food options.

According to CalMac's website, adults aged 16 and over need a ticket, and children aged five to 15 travel at half the adult fare.

Onboard, passengers can enjoy self-service dining at the Mariners cafeterias, from homemade soup of the day to freshly made baguettes, and fish and chips, traditional Scottish steak pie, and 'CalMac and Cheese'.

A selection of curries and pizzas are also available.

Children's meals include chicken fillet bites, mac and cheese, and mini fish and chips.
