Calm With Horses star Hazel Doupe said she was amazed witnessing her co-stars Barry Keoghan and Cosmo Jarvis’ star power in action on the Irish flick.
The Dubliner, who also made a splash in acclaimed Irish movies Float Like
A Butterfly and Michael Inside, is now to be seen in RTE’s eagerly anticipated new drama series Smother.
But looking back at the joy of filming before the pandemic struck, the 19-year-old admitted she was in awe of her co-stars’ professionalism and dedication on and off the screen.
The 19-year-old told The Social Media: “I remember having had a conversation with Cosmo Jarvis and then finding out later the Irish accent he had wasn’t his own accent and I was shocked. Because he used that same accent throughout the whole filming whether he was on camera or not.
“So it solidified his accent for sure and was really just very impressive.
“And being around that professionalism was really cool.”
Jarvis, who was born in the US but raised in Totnes, Devon, with an Armenian-American mother and English father, moved to Ireland for five weeks before filming began to prepare and from that point on, until the film had wrapped, he only spoke in an Irish accent.
But Hazel said learning to unwind off camera with former Love/Hate star Keoghan was also a major takeaway from working on the BAFTA nominated film.
She said: “Just being able to have the craic and not being too professional all of the time.
“Toni O’Rourke and Roisin O’Rourke who play my sisters were also fantastic to work with and Barry, the four of us would hang out and it was an enjoyable place to be.
“And it made the shoot really nice. I wasn’t on it for very long but I had a ball.”
