Callumn Morrison could require knee surgery to fix cartilage problem

Hearts winger Callumn Morrison will undergo knee surgery if required to fix a persistent cartilage problem.

Manager Craig Levein previously revealed that the winger had been managing the issue since the start of the season, and while isn’t overly troubled by the injury just now, could go under the knife in the summer.

Morrison, who became a father just days after scoring his first senior goal for Hearts in January, pulled out of the recent Scotland Under 21 squad due to personal issues.

Levein has been pleased by the progress the teenager has made this season, and expects him to be better able to cope with the physical demands of first team football as he fills out more.

“It’s an ongoing problem and he will get something done about that in the summer,” he said . “If he requires surgery then he will get it.

“He has a little tear in his cartilage but it’s sat down and isn’t causing him any bother just now. Sometimes it can be irritating but thankfully he is fine just now.

“I’ve been pleased with him this season. He is quite an uncomplicated boy.

“He isn’t going to grow much more in height but he can fill out a little bit and become stronger to improve himself.”
