Callum Wilson on the road to recovery as Newcastle man posts encouraging video

Callum Wilson posted a video showing he is on the road to recovery as he worked on the hamstring injury suffered against Southampton.

A video posted by Bournemouth-based Prime Performance - Wilson's personal physio, who worked with him on the recovery from previous serious injuries - showed the Newcastle striker being put through his paces and performing dynamic work outs.

The United man looked in good shape as he was put through the work outs, putting weight on the hamstring and doing some rigorous stretching exercises.

Newcastle estimated an April return for the striker, which will rule him out of a crucial period in the relegation fight. But on the evidence of the video, he may be ahead of schedule.

As well as working with United's medical team, Wilson is continuing his recovery with a physio he has worked with to recover from two serious knee injuries.

Prime Performance is run by Bournemouth and FA physio Jonny King - who Wilson has worked with for the past seven years.

In a testimonial Wilson described working with King as a "blessing" and said: "Our hardwork and dedication enabled us to overcome adversity and return to the pitch physically stronger than I left it."

United fans looking for survival salvation will hope he can work his magic again, as Newcastle could do with his goals.
