Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson hopes that Nick Pope is trending on Twitter before every game after his man of the match performance against Brighton last Saturday.
Pope made five saves, including a contender for save of the season to deny Adam Lallana's header and help guide Newcastle to a goalless draw at the Amex.
The trend started when the Newcastle goalkeeper topped a Burger King poll after fans hijacked an online survey.. His name was then posted by a number of global companies such as McDonalds, Deliveroo and Burger King themselves.
Wilson hopes that Pope becomes a social media sensation every week if it means he'll perform like he did at Brighton and believes he has already added great 'value' to the club.
"Someone said 'what should they call their new meal or their new burger' and then someone said 'Nick Pope' and it basically just blew up," Wilson recalled on the Footballer's Football Podcast. "And then all of a sudden he's trending on Twitter, he's getting his name tweeted by Burger King and all these big food brands and then he went and had a worldie on the weekend.
"I hope someone puts his name out there every week and he plays like that because he was inspired. It just shows the quality of player he is, the character that he is, I feel that he has added strength and value to our squad.
"That's no disrespect to the goalkeepers already at the club because they're fantastic and they'll give a great fight to get the number one spot and keep pushing each other.
"But he plays for England and I've played against him before and he's an unbelievable shot stopper. Some of the saves he makes you think 'how has he saved that' and on Saturday he basically got us the point and kept us in the game at spells."
