Callum Smith has reiterated his desire to become a two-weight world champion, as he's set his eyes on the light-heavyweight belt.
The Liverpool fighter has moved up to light-heavyweight level following defeat to the legendary Canelo Alvarez last time out.
Previously WBA super-middleweight champion, Smith is now looking to add a world title belt at his new weight class.
"I’ve got a good fight, it’s a good step to get into the division, we’ll see a little bit more after the weekend where I’m at but I believe that I’m good enough to become a world champion at 175," he said at the pre-fight press conference.
"I’ve got the same goals as I did at 168, I managed to do it there, I’m fully confident that I can do exactly the same at this weight.
“I think a lot of people thought I’d step-up and fight a knockover job, a gimme, but it’s a good fight, it’s a tough test. He’s boxed for a world title and lost on points but he gave a good account of himself. He’s a big 175, looks heavy-handed, so I can’t afford any slip-ups.
"I’ve got to be at my best and I believe that I will and hopefully a win over Lenin Castillo puts me one-step closer to a world title which is the end goal.”
The fight will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of 70,000 fans, giving Smith another top venue to cross off his bucket list.
“The stadium is unbelievable. I’ve heard a lot about it but it’s the first time I’ve seen it. It’s another good place to box off that I’ve boxed. I’m looking forward to the main event as well, it will be a great fight and I’m sure the atmosphere will be something special.
"I’m looking forward to getting back in and showing the improvements I’ve made since last time out. I’ve changed my training set-up to Buddy, he’s a phenomenal coach. Each day we’re looking to improve in certain aspects with minor adjustments and hopefully this weekend we will see some of those improvements this week.”
