Callum Smith next fight confirmed on Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk undercard

Callum Smith will return to the ring on September 25th to make his light-heavyweight debut as part of the undercard for Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk.

The Liverpudlian is back in the ring for the first time since he lost his WBA super-middleweight belt last December and has now moved up a weight class.

Smith's opponent for the bout will be 33-year-old Dominican fighter Lenin Castillo, who has a 21-3 record that includes 16 knockouts.

It will be the experienced fighter's first fight in Great Britain, with all of his previous bouts being held in North America.

For Smith, it provides the chance to get back-on-track following the defeat to Canelo Alvarez at the back-end of last year.

That bout came at late notice and was a chastening experience for the 31-year-old against a fighter who is widely regarded to be the best in the world.

How he adapts to light-heavyweight class will be intriguing to see on a night packed full of entertaining action.

Also on the undercard is Lawrence Okolie's defence of his WBO cruiserweight title against mandatory challenger Dilan Prasovic, while Campbell Hatton, the son of boxing great Ricky Hatton, continues his fledging career with a fourth contest.

Florian Marku will face Maxim Prodan for the IBF International welterweight title, while Christopher Ousley also meets Russia's Khasan Baysangurov for the WBA intercontinental title.

All five fights will take place before the main event, where Joshua's heavyweight titles are on the line against Usyk.
