Callum O'Dowda wants to leave Bristol City after being 'frozen out' of team since March amid £10m Leeds United interest - reports

Callum O'Dowda wants to leave Bristol City this summer according to reports.

The Times claim that O'Dowda was frozen out of the side after refusing to sign a new contract following an impressive run of form during the Robins' unbeaten run in mid-season.

O'Dowda did not play for the Robins after March 12, and his absence was attributed to a knee injury.

Yet the Times allege that O'Dowda has been fit again for some time and that the club were less than impressed when he travelled to Dublin to meet new Ireland manager Mick McCarthy and attend the FAI's Player of the Year awards when carrying the injury.

The 23-year-old did travel with the Robins to Hull City for their last game of the season but failed to get into the match-day squad.

O'Dowda's contract expires next year and there were rumours of interest from Leeds United in January, but the Elland Road club instead opted to make a move for Swansea City's Daniel James after being told the Robins winger had a price tag of £10m.

However, the James move fell through and he now seems destined for bigger things, with Manchester United among the clubs now said to be interested in him this summer.

That leaves Leeds once again looking for a winger, and O'Dowda could be on their radar again - although there is also said to be interest from Premier League clubs.

The Times report claims it now seems inevitable that O'Dowda will leave this summer, with City unwilling to lose him on a free transfer next summer - which is a move that seems to be supported by Robins fans, with 96 per cent responding to a Bristol Live survey saying the club should sell him if he does not sign a new deal.

City are reportedly looking for £6m for the player this summer - a price which would mean they have made around £20m for two players already after Lloyd Kelly departed for Bournemouth this weekend.
