Callum McGregor's Celtic commitment celebrated as banner tribute sends subliminal message to departed stars

Celtic fans paid tribute to committed captain Callum McGregor after the midfielder signed a mammoth new contract at the club.

The Hoops skipper penned a new five-year deal last week that will keep him at the club until his 33rd birthday.

And his call came after a summer in which a litany of Parkhead stars headed for the exit door.

Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer, Scott Brown and Ryan Christie headlined the 'outs' list as a failure to secure a 10th title on the spin last term spilled into Ange Postecoglou's rebuild.

But while he's out injured for now and things aren't going so well without him, the Celtic support are overjoyed McGregor has shown an unwavering commitment.

He's long been linked with a move to Leicester City to reunite with old boss Brendan Rodgers or another transfer down to England.

However his priority has remained serving the club he's been at since the age of eight and the Bhoys group that brings some noise to the Celtic Park rafters unfurled a banner in tribute.

During the 1-1 draw with Dundee United the section displayed a message that read: "Callum McGregor – committed to the cause."
