Celtic playmaker Callum McGregor believes his side deserve the title even if they receive it without playing another game.
A decision on the Scottish Premiership is due in the coming days as the Parkhead club sit 13 points clear of Rangers at the top of the league after the league was halted on March 13 due to the coronavirus.
Some have argued against Celtic being given the title despite not fulfilling their eight remaining league fixtures.
But McGregor is adamant his side deserve the accolade because of what they've already managed to do on the pitch.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "Regardless of whether we win it on the pitch or the circumstances dictate that we don't get to finish it but we still get crowned.
"I think either way we would be worthy champions and we've been absolutely outstanding.
"Over the season we've put so many wins together and played in a real attacking style as well which we've scored a lot of goals in.
"The boys were desperate to actually go and finish the season on a real high the way we were playing but that's been taken away.
"But to go and get nine titles in a row, it will only be the second time in the club's history so that tells you how big and achievement it is in itself and it's something I know the boys would be extremely proud of."
McGregor has been an integral part of the green machine, making a total of 50 appearances before football was shut down by the Covid crisis.
The midfielder has been dubbed the Duracell bunny for his incredible game time over the past four years. And he says the lockdown has only served to fire his hunger for more.
“I always get asked about wanting a rest and I always say no,” he said. “This is why.
“All of a sudden it’s taken away from you and you are left scratching your head and are just desperate to play football.
“That’s when I’m fit and healthy I want to play every minute I can.”
And the midfielder revealed he has been using lockdown to add a new string to his bow - Spanish.
The Scotland international has gone back to school with an internet language course for the past eight weeks.
And he said: “It’s kept me busy but don’t ask me to do any yet! Doing revision and stuff like that.
“I’ve also been looking at some of the training stuff we have been doing and trying to process the information.
“It has given me a bit of time to reflect on the last few years.”
