Callum McGregor says Owen Moffat's explosive arrival against Sheffield Wednesday was no surprise - because he's watched the youngster train by HIMSELF to earn a first-team call.
The 19-year-old Moffat was a relative unknown to the casual viewer when Celtic kicked off their pre-season in Wales as he partnered Albian Ajeti up front from the start.
But those who were unfamiliar with his name were quickly put in the picture when he rattled in a fine finish to put Ange Postecoglou 's team in front.
The youngster impressed with both his finishing and his work-rate and will be hoping to earn a competitive debut when they kick off the Premiership season later this month.
But it's no surprise to McGregor who says he has long since been impressed with Moffat's eye for goal.
His clinical strike put a second-string Celtic team 2-1 up on their way to a comfortable 3-1 victory and McGregor was impressed with what he saw.
But it was Moffat who stood out as he told the Celtic YouTube channel: "The young lads yesterday, I thought they were excellent.
"After a shaky start, they regained their composure and went on and won the game convincingly, which is great to see.
"Obviously a mention for young Moffatt, his attitude has been first class.
"I remember watching him at the end of last season, training on the astro himself.
"Every day they would do finishing and I remember thinking 'he's got a finish on him'.
"I wasn't surprised yesterday when it dropped and he half-volleyed it into the net.
"It's brilliant for guys like that to come in and show what they can do."
